i was born and raised here in hopkinsville, and i can't help but notice that this town has turned into one bad neighborhood! every town has what they know as the "bad side of town" you know the area no one wants to live in because all that's there is trash or the scum of the earth. well when a kid can't go outside in broad daylight without getting shot at by guns of some sort; that's what hopkinsville looks like the entire town no one wants to say that they live in because it is full of nothing but gangs and garbage. the sad thing is that i am only 30 years old and in the 30 years i've been here i have always loved living here up until about 2 years ago. that is when i saw the town for what it is starting to become. i have 2 children and i am scared everyday just to take them to school because i'm scared that i'll get a call that my daughter has been killed during a school shooting.and people if you're reading this you know as well as i do that this is a reality that could happen here especially since most of our school system is full of kids who don't care about anything or anyone. as a matter of fact i see now why most parents have went to home schooling at least their child won't have to die just to get an education. i don't know about you all, but i am planning on getting out of here as soon as possible, but it's a shame that you have to move away from your hometown just to protect your children because crime has gotten so bad here. and if you think i'm wrong about crime here pick up the paper, listen to the news, better yet just listen to a police scanner and you'll see.i never thought in a million years i would hate living in hopkinsville, because when i was younger i loved it here, but then there wasn't so much crime.i don't know anything else to do to protect my children except to get them away from this mess. there isn't even such a thing as a good neighborhood anymore!
