A Fort Campbell soldier was arrested Friday morning after attempting to flee from police at speeds up to 120 mph, Oak Grove police reported.

Gilbert Rodriguez, 19, of the 20th Replacement Co., was spotted speeding in a Toyota Scion around 3 a.m. as he traveled north on Fort Campbell Boulevard near Gate 5, police said.

As an officer from the Oak Grove Police Department attempted to stop Rodriguez, he increased his speed and a pursuit ensued. The officer was able to stop Rodriguez after he turned into the parking lot of the Comfort Inn.

Rodriguez was charged with speeding, driving under the influence and first-degree fleeing and evading the police.

His blood alcohol level was more than eight times the legal limit, according to the report. In Kentucky, the legal limit for someone under the age of 21 is 0.02.

Rodriguez was being held in the Christian County Jail.
