Got something on your mind, talk about anything!
Religion?!?
Posted by: Matthew Van Hoose on May 2, 2007 at 5:26AM EST

I can understand threatening people a thousand years ago to follow the law or they will go to some terrible place….but now that we are more educated and civilized, how can people still be religious? Christians are the biggest hypocrites I have ever seen. They believe a man walked on water, died….lol…and then came back to life? Are you serious? They believe that Jesus is returning but every time someone says they are Jesus the government either arrests them or kills them. They believe that God gives people cancer…but when someone miraculously cures them of it….they promote them to Saint. So if someone undoes what God did…they get rewarded for it. Moses talked to a burning bush and believed it was God. I would have loved to be there when he walked back into his tent and told his buddies this.

“Hey guys, I just ran into God…and he was a bush…that was on fire!”

“Sure it was Mo….I think you’ve been smokin’ some bush, now take out the trash!”

We try to tell our children that the stuff that they see on tv and in movies is just make believe but at the same time some people teach their children the most unbelievable story ever. If we are going to believe in Heaven and Hell…let’s just say that Peter Pan is real and if children don’t listen to their parents Captain Hook is going to come into their room and kill them with his hook. No, we wouldn’t want to do this because it will scare them…but at the same time it is ok to tell them that if they lie they will go to Hell and their little bodies will burn forever! And what’s worse, they won’t be alone, the Devil with the flames coming out of his eyes will poke them with a pitch fork of all things. I do believe that some people really truly believe that there is a God. I think they can believe this for a few reasons. One, maybe they have lost all hope and this “god” is all they have to turn too. Maybe they are scared of death and want to believe that there has to be something more. Basically, most people believe this because of the brainwashing they were submitted to in Sunday school and Bible Study and even “lessons” at home. Let’s look at the similarities in Church and brain washing camps:

They both:

-use repetition (and sometimes chanting or singing songs)

-try to take up as much of your time with activities and function so that you no longer have a life outside of what they want

-use guilt as a way to get your “devotion” to the cause….or your money

-promise a big reward

-punishment for wrong doing…AKA. Hell

-urge you to believe that any belief other then what they are “pushing” is wrong

If you know someone who has been brainwashed into believing all these ridiculous stories from the Bible are true, it is useless to try to help them. Even after the Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians proved the world was round, the “church” still convinced them it was flat. Sometimes the brain washing is so deep that they have already drowned in it. Just be glad that they are convinced that killing, robbing, or messing with your wife is so wrong that they will burn for eternity if they ever attempt it. What ever makes someone not want to kill me…I’m all for it. Go Jesus!

You are closer to the truth than you know, but I will not comment further on this subject within this forum......

....understood. I'm pretty sure they will take this off pretty soon. I don't konw who's in charge of what can and cannot be on here but for some reason an open discussion about religion offends someone....I thought that is what the "post comment" button was for.

Old? Old! Why thank you, kind person, for the endorsement. For we all know that you have to keep living to get old- and in order to keep living, you must have learned something along the way!

What you have here is a soldier that was injured fighting for your freedom to be an ass.....I love that the freedom of speech that I fought and put my life on the line for offends you. You're welcome!

This just makes my point even stronger.....do you see how these brainwashed people get upset when you offend their "God"? But if this was about Buddah or something else, they would be cool with it....and who said this was suppose to be funny. It's just a conversation starter...which was affective since you are commenting on it.

Thank you for defending our freedoms, Matthew. Sorry you got hurt.
We don't have to be offended to comment on something.
Unconditional love gives others the right to hurt us.

Sick of it: This old man defends your freedom too- just not with a rifle against the Iraquis. I defend your freedoms by making YOU THINK ABOUT THEM- and why they seem to be going away....... some people produce cars; some produce food. I produce one of the most important things of all- EDUCATION!

I was NOT saying that you are brainwashed, and I am truly sorry if I gave you that impression! I don't dwell on the news; they are in the business of getting you to watch them, or read them, so they look for the WORST stories they can print, or broadcast! And, incidentally, I DO believe that there is something bigger than me; I just am sure that it is not interested in my money (if you know what I mean...)
The best explanation that I have found for most of the crimes that people commit is that we all have free will, and the ability to decide what we want to do. Some of us live our lives by the 10 commandments, but we are still victims of those who do not want to live their lives that way! God did not guarantee any of us a perfect life; but if we follow his rules, we can guarantee ourselves that WE are not the cause of the problems!

If you two don't stop fighting I will pull this car over and bust both of your bottoms! Now I've had it! If you two can't be nice then Charles you stay on your side and Sicky...you stay on yours. If I have to repeat myself you are both going to be sorry!
