Our governments (of the people -fed, state, local) should give soldiers a break in as many ways as possible - especially in tax exemption. This practice would be an excellent way for us to thank them for their service collectively.

It isn't always convenient to specifically thank our military when we pass in airports and other public places. If we knew they were getting a tax break, we "the people" would have collectively thanked them where it really matters most.
