Last week, Mayor Dan Kemp ordered police to begin ticketing cars parked downtown that exceeded the two-hour limit. He said at Tuesday's city council meeting that he would tell officers to stop ticketing until a solution could be found.

What is your solution for downtown parking? Should the two-hour limit be enforced, parking meters re-installed or more parking created?

As an employee of a downtown business I would love to know where all the spaces Mr. Kemp mentions in a previous article are located. The majority of the lots are reserved parking. Our company has reserved parking for our customers and employees that is constantly used by patrons of other downtown establishments. As good neighbors we do not tow at this time. However, if the problem with parking continues, we will be forced to tow. Will this encourage people to visit downtown Mr. Kemp? There are many loading and unloading spaces that belonged to business that needed them that are no longer in operation. These spaces should be remarked as parking spaces. We need to be thinking of ways to increase parking without having to resort to the two hour time limit. How about some of the old buildings downtown. They should be torn down and the lot paved for parking. Mr. Kemp also states that there are spaces available within 2-3 blocks of every downtown business. I don't mind to walk 2-3 blocks to park - but who is going to walk me to my car when it is dark at 5:00 and I have parked behind a building and the police officers are busy writing tickets for the select few who have used up their two hour parking limit?
