Hurd finishes 1st at Dawson run

CADIZ, Ky. — Christian County High School’s Sean Hurd proved too tough for the Lake Barkley Airport course as he took first place in the Trigg County Rotary Fenton Dawson Memorial run Thursday afternoon.

Hurd, who won the Dawson Springs Invitational last weekend, cut more than a minute off his time and finished the 5K course in 17:06.

According the WKDZ.com, coming in just :10 behind Hurd was Fort Campbell’s Thomas Wilson who took second with a time of 17:16.

Leading the way for host Trigg County was Jay Jolly, who finished in 17th place with a time of 18:53, as the Wildcats took sixth place in the varsity race, followed by Christian County in seventh.

Also running for the Colonels were Roman Roman (22nd, 19:04), Chris Aubin (30th, 19:18), Jeff White (75th, 23:06) and Eugene Braxton (82nd, 24:55).

Also running for the Wildcats were Jonathon King (33rd, 19:33), Zeke Wright (35th, 19:35), Jakelzie Martin (40th, 19:53) and Jayven Jones (65th, 21:52).

In the varsity girls’ race, Trigg’s Lynease Byers finished second with a time of 20:23 followed by Marcey King (20th, 23:37), Rachel Cronin (45th, 28:04) and Monica Jones (48th, 28:39).

In the middle school race, Christian County took first place with a total of 36 points, besting third-place Trigg County by 17 points.

Leading the way was Danny Johnson, who won the 3K race in a time of 15:54, :27 over second place finisher Romaine Cunningham from Trigg.

Also running for the Colonels were Kyle Lancaster (5th, 17:42), Matthew Johnson (7th, 18:13), Alex Lancaster (8th, 18:38) and Brandon Scott (15th, 19:10).

Others running included Trace Altman (18th, 19:36), Logan Scott (21st, 19:53), Jonathan Beymer (23rd, 20:04), Taylor Saltsman (24th, 20:17), Chance Reagan (26th, 20:49) and Brennan Maynard (54th, 30:33).

The other top finishers for Trigg County were Brian Dossett (10th, 18:46), Raymond Cronin (12th, 18:57), Debo Mayes (13th, 19:06), Corbin Estes (16th, 19:14), Ethan Dossett (17th, 19:18), Landon Sumner (20th, 19:52), Adam Calhoun (32nd, 22:55), Austin Hendricks (40th, 24:49), Matthew Brokering (41st, 24:22), Hunter Allen (46th, 25:53) and Kyle Rivera (51st, 26:57).

In the girls’ middle school race, Trigg’s Alex Olin finished second with a time of 18:41.

Christian County’s Jamesha Mosley finished 16th in 24:07 to help lead the Lady Colonels to a third place finish. Rachael Snyder finished 17th in 25:00 followed by Karalyn Beymer (33rd, 29:08), Lacey Walker (35th, 30:13) and Amber Bruce (36th, 30:19).

Christian County returns to action Saturday in the Logan County Cougar Invitational.
